MAYNARD, MASSACHUSETTS

The Maynard Voice

INFORMED • CONNECTED • ENGAGED

About Us

When Maynard’s longtime local newspaper the Beacon-Villager stopped publishing in mid-2022, the community was left without a dedicated local news source. That same year, a group of volunteers formed the Maynard Marketing Task Force, launching The Maynard Advantage, a community newsletter fostering economic development and covering town updates, local businesses, and community voices. In 2025, with consistent feedback that there was a real desire to support a community newspaper, the group evolved the effort into an e-newspaper, named by popular choice The Maynard Voice. To support the new publication the Maynard News Network was established as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, with a full editorial mission and a commitment to independent local journalism.

Our Mission

The Maynard News Network is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting local journalism in Maynard, Massachusetts, and its surrounding communities. Our mission is to provide accessible, accurate, and non-partisan information to residents, business owners, and stakeholders. We believe local journalism is vital to maintaining a strong democracy and fostering civic engagement.

We are committed to delivering timely and reliable news, including coverage of town meetings, school updates, community events, and local business news. Our goal is to keep the community informed, connected, and engaged.

How We Run

The Maynard Voice is entirely volunteer-run and free to read. We follow the Society of Professional Journalists Code of Ethics and the editorial independence standards of the Institute for Nonprofit News. We are funded through donations and grants, and our journalism is never influenced by the sources of our funding.
