Step Into Maynard’s Past: Discover the Historic Walking Tours

As warm weather approaches, the Maynard Historical Commission wants to remind residents about a free and fun resource: our Historic Walking Tours, available online and at the Maynard Public Library.

Each tour is approximately two miles and offers a unique window into a different chapter of Maynard’s story. Participants can choose from six themed routes:

  • Assabet River National Wildlife Refuge
  • Assabet Village
  • Glenwood Cemetery
  • Great Road
  • Main Street and the Mill
  • New Village and Maynard’s Hill

Together, these tours trace the evolution of Maynard from a mill town to the close-knit and historically rich community we know today.

Printed brochures are available at the Maynard Public Library and all tours can be accessed here.

Whether you are a lifelong resident, a new neighbor or simply curious about the town’s past, Maynard’s Historic Walking Tours offer a meaningful and memorable way to connect with local history.

Sometimes, the best way to understand where a town is going is to walk where it has been.
