Celebration of Volunteers in Maynard
Cheers for our volunteers!
The Maynard Select Board invited all citizens to a celebration s of volunteers in Maynard on Sunday, September 7th 2:00-4:00pm in Crowe Park, Maynard. Whether one worked on a town committee, coached kids, delivered meals, or helped behind the scenes, The Select Board welcomed everyone in town to celebrate our volunteer spirit!
A little bit of rain did nothing to keep over 50 volunteer residents of Maynard from turning out for the Maynard Select Boards’ first annual Cheers to Volunteers event. Crowe Park was busy with music, games and lively conversation as families and friends gathered in the spirit of community. Ice cream truck attendants dispensed cool confections in cones and cups, while kids and parents competed in games of croquet and bocce.
Select Board Member Mike Stevens spoke to the crowd about the energy of volunteers as a vital and invigorating force within the Town. “Volunteerism,” he said, “is the joining together of people who care about community.”
