1st Annual Maynard Country Festival

On Saturday September 27th the 1st Annual Maynard Country Festival debuted in Memorial Park in downtown Maynard. There was a fun country cut out provided with the talents of Jay Murray of Minuteman Builders and painted by ArtSpace’s Priscilla Cotter.

With Miss Tricia’s Dance studio teaching line dancing in the park and a real live cowboy on Summer Street teaching cow wrangling and rope skills, the scene was set for a fabulous day.

Free cowboy hats  and country western inspired temporary tattoos were a major hit with the kids. Maynard’s own Snazzy Sign created Maynard Country Fest’s t-shirts, while Amory’s Tomb served up spirits. Texas SmokeShack and Maynard’s own Perico’s Tacos both pleased the appetites of the crowds.  Crafty Momma Cookies was perfect for those with a sweet tooth with her artistic frosted cookies.

Ashley Jordan took the stage around 1:15pm and impressed the crowd with songs like; “Imperfectly Me” and “Comeback Kid”, as well as a few covers.

When Houston Bernard began around 2:15, he and Ashley joined together for a duet and wowed the crowd with their amazing voices. Houston sang songs like “Die Before I Let You Down” and “Dancin’ in the Dirt”. He sang “Comeback” his newest single. He also did covers like “Chicken” Fried by Zac Brown Band and Jimmy Buffet’s “5 O’clock Somewhere” that got everyone singing along.

Music festivals in the park are becoming increasingly popular in town with  the JazzFest in June and now Country Fest in the early Fall. We are looking forward to planning our next musical adventure in Town soon.
