The Maynard Public Library is again hosting AARP Foundation Tax-Aide, offering free tax preparation by IRS-certified volunteers for taxpayers with low to moderate income. The service is open to all, regardless of age or AARP membership.

Tax-Aide assists millions nationwide with federal and state returns each year. Last year in Maynard, 176 households received help getting over $285,000 in refunds and saving at least $30,000 in tax prep costs.
The Tax-Aide program at the library provides e-filing for Federal and Massachusetts returns and covers most common tax situations, including wages, self-employment, capital gains/losses, pensions, retirement income, earned income credit, education credits, child tax credits, and the Senior Circuit Breaker tax credit. Assistance is also available for amending past returns. Complex tax returns, such those involving ownership of rental property, home offices, or crypto assets, are not eligible for the program.
