On Saturday, March 28, the Maynard Stage Company competed in its first Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild (METG) One-Act Drama Festival. Seventeen high school students brought their play, Constellations, to Leominster High School, where they performed alongside seven other schools. The METG Festival rules require that plays must be less than 40 minutes in length, and the entire set must be set up and taken down by students in less than five minutes each. After their two benefit shows in the Maynard High School auditorium on Friday, the Maynard Stage Company competed on Saturday, winning two All-Star Company Awards:
- Maylee Hiatt for Excellence in Acting for the Role of Marianne
- Delilah Bacon for Technical Excellence in Stage Management
Constellations did not move on to the semifinal round of competition, where only 49 of the 114 schools that enter the competition are invited. Now, the Maynard Stage Company looks ahead to its spring musical, Camelot! Performances will be May 22 and 23 in the Maynard High School auditorium.
