Indivisible Maynard Plans Third No Kings Rally

Indivisible Maynard is organizing its third No Kings Maynard rally on Saturday, March 28, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park. The rally is part of a nationwide effort to protest federal government actions, initially focused on immigration policy but now expanded to include what organizers describe as a “war of choice” with Iran. The event is connected to thousands of similar rallies across the country and in every state.

The first No Kings rally in Maynard drew nearly 1,000 participants, according to a police estimate, and the second had a similar turnout. The local organizing committee has announced an extensive lineup of speakers for this event:

  • Jared and Laurie Berezin, organizers of the Wednesday morning standouts at the Burlington ICE facility
  • State Sen. Jamie Eldridge
  • State Rep. Kate Hogan
  • The Rev. Dr. Cynthia Landrum, minister of the Unitarian Universalist Church in Stow, who will speak about her experiences in Minneapolis following recent violence against peaceful protesters, along with her interim minister, Trek Reef, who was also present
  • Bryan Winter, Sgt., U.S. Army (Ret.)
  • The Sons of Liberty
  • Massachusetts 50501 Veteran Outreach
  • John Moses, GWOT veteran, Mass 50501 Ambassador and co-founder of the Massachusetts Afghan Alliance

Music will be provided by the newly formed Maynard Freedom Chorus and other performers. Local organizations will have tables at the event, and organizers will also be holding a food drive for Open Table.

“It is sure to be an inspiring community event where we can come together and inspire meaningful change to our sadly dysfunctional and dangerous government and, as a close-knit small town, really give meaning to the saying, ‘It takes a village,’” said Melissa Stein, one of the committee organizers.
