We know it in our bones. Art is essential to being human, and some of us have bones that rattle in its absence. That’s why ArtSpace Maynard has created Art in the Park — its first annual outdoor festival — to celebrate 25 years of creativity. The event will take place June 20, 2026, in Veterans Memorial Park from 2-5 p.m., with activities and demonstrations designed to ignite the spark of creativity in everyone.

Rather than keeping art confined within four walls, organizers at ArtSpace have decided to bring it out into the park for a vibrant, family-friendly afternoon. Visitors will be able to view a central exhibition tent where a curated selection of work by ArtSpace members will be on display. Attendees can learn how inspiration is unique to every artist and follow the processes and techniques of varied media.

Once inspired, visitors can make their own art. They can add a thread to a collaborative weaving project — a living piece of art made by the town and reflecting Maynard’s collective character. Hands-on activities for kids and the young-at-heart will fire up creative engines, and face painting, drawing demonstrations and music are just part of the day’s surprises. We will also have an artist doing stuffed animal portraits, so bring your favorite lovey when you come down. 

“Art in the Park is really about making creativity visible and accessible to everyone. For 25 years, ArtSpace has been a place where artists work and connect, but this event brings that energy out into the heart of Maynard,” says ArtSpace board member and artist Denise Shea. “Whether you’re meeting an artist, trying something hands-on, or just enjoying the atmosphere, we want people to feel like they belong in the creative community.”

Art in the Park takes place June 20, 2026, in Veterans Memorial Park. Whether you’re an artist, an art lover or simply art-curious, you’ll come together in community for a shared experience — and that, in itself, is a powerful work of art.
