Do You Have a Maynard Fine Arts Theatre Memory?

If you lived in Maynard in 1949, the year the Fine Arts Theatre premiered after previous runs as a horse stable and auto repair shop, your movie memory might be The Red Shoes, the first film ever played there.

If you were around for the Theatre’s grand re-opening in 2014, your association might be the sci-fi movie Interstellar starring Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway and Michael Caine.

Whatever your era, whatever your memories, if the Maynard Fine Arts Theatre is part of your experience, you may be interested to know of a forthcoming book about historic community movie theaters. In June, Maynard Fine Arts Theatre will host a book signing with a video introduction chronicling the history of the local landmark. Next month, Toward Independent Living and Learning (tillinc.org), the social service agency which operates the Theatre, will record anecdotes from local residents about their experiences. If you have a memory of attending a movie there or a strong impression about The Maynard Fine Arts Theatre, TILL would like to hear from you. Contact [email protected] for details.
