Maynard Cultural Council Awards More Than $8,000 in Grants for Local Programming

This year’s Maynard Cultural Council grants will have residents traveling the world through books, dancing the quickstep to country music, celebrating Maynard Pride and listening to music carried on a breeze under an open sky. The council funded 17 programs this year, ranging from music festivals and arts programming to public art installations and Hometown Hero banner support.

Thanks to the artists, artisans, craftspeople and civic-minded residents who crafted these events and programs, there is something to suit every taste. See the full list of grants below and come out to enjoy the creativity that makes Maynard such a special place.

  • Origami Club: A project by Lisa Corfman at Felixology, where young and old can learn this ancient craft.
  • Country Music Fest: The second annual festival in Memorial Park, organized by Armand Diarbekirian.
  • Discovery Museum: Open Door Connections, making discovery possible for Maynard residents.
  • Heart on the River: Artist Andrew Emerson will create a mural to further beautify downtown Maynard.
  • Felixology: Travel the world with books.
  • Friends of the Maynard Public Library: A summer concert in the park.
  • Friends of the Maynard Holiday Parade: Funding for this beloved seasonal tradition.
  • Maynard Community Band: Continuing this favorite pastime in Maynard parks.
  • Maynard Hometown Heroes Banners: Honoring our Hometown Heroes.
  • Maynard Pride Association: A celebration to boast our Pride in community.
  • Maynard Theater Association: Supporting the performing arts for young people.
  • A Flowering Song of Jazz: Pianist Stephen C. Page performs.
  • Sanctuary Cultural Arts Center: Family programming during Maynard Fest.
  • Maynard Farmers Market Music Series: Fresh bread, ripe peaches and live music.
  • Strange Maynard Independent Film Festival: Erica Stockwell-Alpert brings back this community favorite.
  • The Assabet River Trail: Public art for public enjoyment recalling Maynard’s early days.
  • The Eco-Crafty Kid: Sustainability with imagination.
