Maynard Public Schools Unite for Student Success

Maynard Public Schools may be smaller than surrounding districts. Still, our small size is a strength – it allows us to work together effectively to provide a personalized education for each student. Our three schools, Maynard High School, Fowler School, and Green Meadow School, are deeply connected. The partnerships formed among these schools enhance the services we collectively provide to our students.

A few of our initiatives highlight this collaboration:

  • Lunch Buddies: Maynard High School students team with Green Meadow students during lunch, fostering friendships and inclusion. The high school students have been wonderful mentors.
  • Spanish Immersion Program: Teachers at all three schools collaborate to enhance our Spanish Immersion program, benefiting students across all grade levels.
  • Spanish Immersion Tutoring Support: High school bilingual Spanish students offer dedicated tutoring sessions to support younger students in the Spanish Immersion program, thereby strengthening learning for both tutors and pupils. The high school students supported students in Kindergarten and Grade 1 two afternoons a week under the guidance of our Spanish Immersion teaching staff.
  • Reading Programs: Fowler students visit Green Meadow to read to younger peers, promoting literacy and a love of reading. Green Meadow Grade 3 students read to our Preschoolers to build community and foster curiosity about books.
  • Future Teachers: Maynard High School students partner with teachers at Fowler and Green Meadow to assist in the classrooms while learning about teaching as a future profession.
  • Athletics and WAVM: Fowler and Maynard High School students work together on the playing fields and in the studio. Many of our sports, along with our one-of-a-kind radio and television production program, are open to students from both schools.
  • Music Education: This past year, the Maynard Public School music program hosted the first-ever Pyramid Concert, featuring a Grade 3 Chorus from Green Meadow, a Middle School Chorus from Fowler, and the Maynard High School Chorus. The concert showcased the development of music education across all three schools.
  • Peer Mentors: Student leaders from Fowler and Maynard High School will team up throughout the upcoming school year to train peers and Green Meadow students to “start with hello,” as they enhance student connection and belonging using research-based peer leadership models.
  • National Jr. Honor Society (Fowler) and National Honor Society (High School): Both nationally recognized programs, the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) and the National Honor Society (NHS), work in conjunction with each other. NJHS serves as a pathway to NHS, as both organizations recognize excellence in scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. Many students who qualify for and participate in NJHS at the middle school level continue to excel in leadership through the NHS program at the high school level.

Our collaboration extends beyond initiatives. The leadership team at Maynard Public Schools collaborates to monitor student transitions between schools, ensuring that each student receives the necessary resources to succeed. The leadership team also collaborates as an instructional team, observing students in classrooms, analyzing data, and evaluating results. We are all committed to providing students every opportunity possible to learn and to grow.

The collaboration between schools is just one aspect of what makes Maynard Public Schools special; you will see our commitment to working together as a team in every school, every day. Our small size does not limit our dedication to excellence in education; instead, it allows us to work together to ignite growth for all members of the Maynard Public Schools community.
