The Maynard Cultural District creates, promotes and supports cultural events in Maynard’s Downtown. So far this summer there’s been no shortage of great things to do, and the good news is there’s more to come! Here’s a sampling:
Maynard PrideFest was a huge success! Click here to read the full coverage of the event.
Bravissimo! Close to 600 people attended Maynard’s 4th annual Jazz Fest on June 21st, and 60% of them were from out of Town. That’s good news for the District’s eateries, galleries and retailers who are always happy to welcome new visitors.

The day kicked off with Maynard High School Jazz Band who set the stage for an afternoon of vibrant music from Bluedog, Christine Fawson Quartet and Two Tuckers. Between sets, Marlborough High School Jazz band serenaded us on the education stage.
Music wasn’t the only reason to celebrate. Amory’s Tomb, El Huipil and Smack Noodle added to the festivities with refreshments, Snazzy Sign sold JazzFest t-shirts with $2 of each sale going to the JazzFest account. The cherry on top came from Fine Arts Theatre Creamery who satisfied sweet tooths with tasty ice cream and gelato.
The day’s success is owed to many, especially generous sponsors, to name a few: Middlesex Savings Bank, Dunkin (The Pesce Network) and Summer Street Properties as well as first-time sponsors KVC Builders, Capital Group, Domino’s, Fly by Night Furniture and InSitu.
Organizers are most grateful to The Maynard Select Board and Police Department for providing permits and resources for the 4th year in a row.
And who are those organizers? They are the hard working committee who brings those jazzy strains to use each year: Patricia Gatley, Lynda Thayer, Jenna Dargie, Richard Pepin, Devereux Geiger and Armand Diarbekirian and many others that helped in the background with social media and other promotional marketing help, including the great sound engineers. Thank you to them all for filling the District with music, energy and family fun.
